Mentor Graphics Joins Open System C Initiative

WILSONVILLE, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 23, 2001--Mentor Graphics Corporation today announced it has joined the Open System C Initiative (OSCI) as a corporate member and Michael A. Bohm, chief technologist of the HDL design division, has been appointed to the OSCI board of directors.

OSCI is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting and advancing System C, a language and reference implementation based on C++ class libraries, as an open source standard language for system-level design and intellectual property modeling.

As a corporate member of OSCI, Mentor Graphics will participate in OSCI's steering committee and board of directors to help establish the organization's priorities and direction. In addition, as the Mentor Graphics representative, Michael Bohm will collaborate with other members in technical working groups to determine future developments of System C and OSCI specifications. Bohm began his career designing semiconductors and for more than ten years has been involved with EDA tools, specializing in behavioral and logic synthesis.

"Mentor Graphics has already been exploring the best applications of high-level design languages and as a member of OSCI we will lend our support to efforts to develop System C as a viable language for the next generation of designs," said Michael Bohm. "We believe our expertise in simulation and synthesis will be valuable to the organization in further exploring the issues surrounding System C implementation."
